Service Advisor

Service Advisor wanted in Uddingston, Glasgow
Due to recent expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a successful and motivated Service Advisor to work for a busy and dynamic vehicle repair centre. You will contribute to the efficient operation of the Service department, maximising guest experience and departmental profitability throughout all transactions. You will also be joining the business at an exciting time, leading up to moving into our brand new, modern service & repair centre.
Main areas of accountability:
- To greet customers in a courteous and efficient manner, both in person and by telephone
- To assess the customers’ needs and requirements
- To advise on service and/or repair requirements and sell additional products, services and parts
- To maintain up-to-date knowledge of vehicle service, repair and warranty policies and product changes.
- To supply accurate estimates for servicing and repairs, ensuring the customer is aware of costs and timescales involved
- To accurately record and communicate customer work instructions to the Workshop Controller / Technician
- To monitor progress in workshop to ensure promised delivery times are met
- To load the workshop to the optimum level
- To contact customers for authorisation if additional work is necessary
- To prepare and present invoices and obtain payment
- Maintenance of customer record system and use to follow up customers
- To deal with customer complaints as prescribed, within authority limits and review with manager
- To maintain reception area to a high standard, ensuring displays, prices, etc. are current
- To monitor job status against required completion times in conjunction with Workshop Controller.
- To communicate with the Workshop Controller when completion time will or will not be met and inform the customer in good time.
- Must be comfortable upselling extra work and have an understanding of the motor /HGV industry
- Assistance with any other task as directed
Knowledge, skills & experience:
- Previous experience within a dealership administration / service reception / parts environment (preferred)
Attention to detail (Essential)
A good technical awareness or understanding of vehicles and components (preferred)
Excellent communication skills (essential)
IT Skills (essential)
Strong interpersonal skills (essential)
Ability to work on own initiative & part of a team (essential)
Excellent organisational skills (essential)
Analytical formatting
Experience in upselling
Must have a valid driving license
