Wm Armstrong (Longtown) Limited claimed their second national training accolade this year at the Motor Transport Awards on 2nd September fighting off fierce competition from Bibby Distribution and Parcel Line at a prestigious ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel. The award completes a hat-trick of training awards for the company this year which began with The Learning and Skills Council Excellence in Cumbria Awards in March and progressing to the LSC Apprentice Awards in June.
Jennifer Whyberd, Managing Director said of the award: "I'm absolutely delighted. It took the foot and mouth crisis to make us train. Now, we are training throughout the company -'growing our own' - and I'd recommend it to anyone. This award is a great achievement and solely due to the hard work and efforts made by every department within the company with the apprentices in the offices, in the garage and on the young drivers scheme."
Jennifer Whyberd (MD) and director Geof Armstrong collected the award on behalf of the company which was praised by the judges for showing: "..true commitment to training and personal development...and...an impressive insight into how to make an apprenticeship scheme work for the benefit of all involved."
